Android emulator on Mac: how to cancel your subscription, step by step

Updated on · The MACOS EMULATOR team

To cancel your subscription to MACOS EMULATOR, you only need one button, in your customer area. What happens next is spread elsewhere: how long you can play, what becomes of your key, what stays on your Mac. Here is the full path, in the order it happens.

What cancelling does not do

Cancelling stops the renewal, and nothing else. The app, the Android engine, the device and your keys stay on the Mac until you go through Uninstall, in Settings. Before uninstalling, the article on uninstalling explains what is lost and what to send first.

If you bought the lifetime license, there is nothing to cancel. The dedicated article says what that changes.

Cancelling, step by step

  1. 1Open your customer area and sign in with the key of the subscription you want to cancel. Your e-mail address works too, but it sometimes opens the lifetime license first if you bought both plans: the monthly key is then the safer choice.
  2. 2In the subscription card, click “Cancel subscription”.
  3. 3The site answers “Cancellation scheduled: your subscription will end at the next renewal date.” Nothing else stops right away.
  4. 4Check the “Ends on” row. It replaces “Next renewal” and gives the date until which your access holds.

Until the end date

The launcher changes nothing during this period: Play works as before. The site says so too: “Cancellation is scheduled: access stays active until the date shown. You can reactivate until then.” The “Reactivate subscription” button is in the same customer area, and one click undoes the cancellation.

On the end date

The server no longer renews your key after the date. The launcher does not rely on the date alone, though: it keeps a signed token, valid for 72 hours, which it renews every time it talks to the server (`Sources/PlayDroidKit/License.swift`). Once renewal stops, the token expires at most 72 hours later. After that, Play opens the “Subscription required” window (`Sources/PlayDroidApp/PaywallView.swift`).

In the customer area, the status changes to “Cancelled”, and the key is deactivated on this Mac. It works again as soon as you resubscribe.

Coming back later

Three situations, three buttons. Do not mix them up:

  • The date has not passed yet: “Reactivate subscription”. Same key, same Mac, nothing to reinstall.
  • The subscription has ended: “Resubscribe”. After payment, the site e-mails you a new key. The old one does not come back.
  • Payment failed, status “Payment overdue”: “Pay now”. Same key, and access returns once the invoice is paid.

Frequently asked questions

Does cancelling erase my settings?

No. Cancelling only changes what the server accepts. What is on your Mac stays until you run Uninstall.

I bought both plans: which one do I cancel?

Only the monthly plan can be cancelled. The lifetime license has no cancel button. Sign in with the monthly key to find its button.

How long does access last?

Until the date shown in “Ends on”. The launcher can still play for up to 72 hours after that, while its signed token expires.

What happens to my key after cancelling?

It is deactivated when the subscription ends. Resubscribing sends a new key, and the old one does not come back.

Can I resubscribe from another Mac?

Yes, a license counts only one active Mac at a time. To free the old one, [the article on switching Macs](/en/articles/changer-de-mac-emulateur-android) explains how.
